KlearWell 300, MudPurge

  • KlearWell 300 MudPurge dispersant polymer is unparalled as an excellent dispersant chemical designed to breakdown and remove drilling muds and clay from the well environment more effectively than any other product.
  • KlearWell 300 MudPurge successfully develops new wells without using phosphate.
  • KlearWell 300 MudPurge leaves no food source for bacteria and is readily flushed from well.
  • KlearWell 300 MudPurge successfully rehabilitates old wells plugged with clays, silts and fines.
  • KlearWell 300 MudPurge is NSF Standard 60 Certified and approved for potable water well use.

Application

In older well systems use KlearWell 300 MudPurge dispersant to remove fine sands, mud and clays that have filled in the gravel pack and borehole. After an initial 12 hour chlorine shock dose of 1500mg/L of chlorine and complete well evacuation to return chlorine to 5 mg/L or less, use at a rate of 1 gal per 300 gal of water. (Neutralize chlorine on the surface with KlearWell 486 ChlorStop). Add KlearWell 300 MudPurge and agitate by vigorous mechanical means, and let the solution stand in the well overnight, and repeat the agitation the next day, before pump-out.

In new well systems use KlearWell 300 MudPurge dispersant in place of phosphates for drilling mud breakdown and well development. It is important to separately pre-treat the well with 1,500 ppm chlorine for a minimum of 12 hours to break the chemical bonds between the polymer chains in the drilling fluids. This provides optimal removal of bentonite drilling fluids that are included in most commercial bentonite products. Remove all chlorinated water to 5 mg/L or less and neutralize with KlearWell 486 ChlorStop.

Determine borehole volume, and apply KlearWell 300 MudPurge dispersant at the rate of 1 gal per 500 gal of water. Use vigorous mechanical action to agitate the well column for several hours (approximately 1/2 hr per 20 ft of intake). Leave in the well overnight and strongly agitate before pump-out.

  1. Prepare a Total Treatment Volume (TTV) solution of water, acid, and KlearWell 186 BioMin Dispersant in an appropriately sized tank above ground, equal to approximately 1.5 times the Standing Water volume (SWV) of the well.
  2. First add water, then acid, then KlearWell 186 BioMin Dispersant. Note: NEVER add water to acid! DO NOT mix the KlearWell 186 BioMin Dispersant directly into concentrations of undiluted liquid acid as polymer destruction may occur.
  3. Place 80% of the cleaning mixture evenly across the intake zones, with the remaining 20% added to the rest of the water column. Apply vigorous agitation with the cleaning solution to enhance the effectiveness of cleaning.
  4. Depending on the congestion of the well and the water chemistry, the solution should remain in contact for 18 to 48 hours. Monitor the pH and keep it below 3.0 during treatment. If additional acid is needed to lower pH, add an amount necessary to drop pH to 3 or lower.
  5. Discharge the acid cleaning solution from the well, neutralize at the surface and dispose in accordance with local regulations.
